Hello Apurva
Hi! I’m Apurva, a Registered Psychologist. I enjoy working with adults (18+) presenting with a range of issues. These include anxiety, stress management, panic, LGBTQIA+/ gender diversity related issues, cultural issues/experiences, and women’s mental health issues.

Hello Apurva
Why did you get involved in Counselling as a career path and means of support?
From a young age, I often supported friends with their worries and problems. It gradually became
clear to me that this desire to help others was something I wanted to carry into my future.
Deciding a career in counselling and mental health felt like a natural choice, aligning with my
genuine interest in helping individuals through life's challenges and hardships. Being a
psychologist has proven to be one of the most rewarding experiences for me, and I deeply value
the privilege and opportunity to offer support and guidance to others.
What's your cultural background and what makes it stand out?
I am what you call a “third culture kid.” While my roots are Indian, I grew up in Oman and
Australia and identify as Indian-Australian. This amalgamation of cultural identities offers me an
insightful perspective into how individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds navigate their
journey of self-discovery, finding their place, and embracing their identity.
What sort of individual challenges can you best support for clients?
A key focus in my practice is guiding individuals to align their decisions with their values,
cultivating authenticity and fulfillment. I frequently work with clients to navigate challenges related
to perfectionism and achievement, and provide support in understanding their needs and
establishing boundaries.
I also support clients with intersectional identities, including those in the LGBTQIA+ and gender-
diverse community navigating cultural, societal or religious expectations.
What are your areas of expertise and is there anything else you want to branch out into
later?
I specialise in supporting clients experiencing anxiety, stress, and panic. I also specialise in
women’s mental health, while considering the intricate interplay of biopsychosocial factors that
can impact their wellbeing.
I hold a special interest in working with LGBTQIA+ and gender-diverse clients, as well as
individuals navigating the complexities of cultural diversity and intersectional experiences.
I am currently learning more about ADHD in adults, with the view to specialise in this area in the
future.
Something Fun!
What's the last show you watched / currently watching?
The last show I watched was the American comedy, Ghosts. I’m currently watching my all-time
favourite sitcom, Frasier!
