Shakti Mental Health: May Newsletter

This weekend marks the end of mental health awareness month, to celebrate we are hosting a (Me)ditation session this Sunday night facilitated by Ria Patel, details to register below. Our on going programs also take place this week including our monthly safe space program and multicultural mens yoga.

Words of wellbeing: Each month our newsletter will introduce you to a different word in South Asian language used to convey wellbeing and emotions. South Asian words that explain feelings and emotions English never could.

Thavippu Tamil: தவிப்பு a term that describes deep emotional distress, anguish, or an inner sense of turmoil. It can refer to inner strain people feel when they’re overwhelmed, unheard, or carrying too much alone.

"உன்னை காணாத தவிப்பில் என் உள்ளம் தீண்டாத தீ போல எரிகிறது"

"In the anguish of not seeing you, my heart burns like an untouched flame".
